Blue Willow Tablescape with Jennifer Carroll

Jennifer Carroll, an event planner of 20 years and a mother on one, has kindly shared her easy fall tablescape design for any gathering, big or small with me. Jennifer has loved planning and playing “hostess” from the time she was a little girl. When it comes to party planning, she believes in keeping it simple.

In her lovely “Blue Willow” tablescape, Jennifer blends blue-and-white porcelain dishes with decorative accents in earthy tones of red and orange. As y’all know, I love blue and white dishes, but transitioning them into fall can be a challenge. Jennifer’s combination creates a unique vignette that radiates the warm feeling of fall.

For the place setting, Jennifer layers her traditional Blue Willow china with Lace Edge Milk Glass plates to break things up. To bring her dishes into fall, Jennifer places a miniature pumpkin on top of the orange ribbon an easy finish. For a special touch, she has also embellished the plain white napkins with her monogram in a bold blue, using her embroidery machine.

For the table’s centerpiece, Jennifer aims for a “collected” look. She did not have a container large enough to make a statement on its own, so she gathered an assortment of complementary pieces that blend beautifully to create interest but that do not overwhelm the scene.

Any and everyone can accomplish Jennifer’s beautiful fall tablescape design! I just love her easy approach to celebrating with friends and family.

  1. Jennifer’s gorgeous table is a feast for the eyes! She is such a talented designer. Thank you for featuring her striking work!

  2. I have an extensive collection of Blue Willow and like Brandon, I use it everyday. Yet it looks so appropriate on a snowy white tablecloth for company. I also have a large set of blue and white Lochs of Scotland which I treasure also. They are on display behind glass doors of the china cabinet in the dining room. I don’t use them often, but love to see them every time I pass through the dining room. I also love the color combination of blue and orange. When I about 10 years I asked my mother to let me paint my bedroom blue and orange…the idea was nixed immediately!

  3. Talented Jennifer did a fantastic fall table setting! The pumpkins in contrast colors to the blue make me want to sit down and enjoy a great meal and fun conversation. The statement is absolutely “Its Autumn.” Always a favorite dish setting and its so seasonal …loved it.

  4. Love my Blue Willow and all the blue and white china I have added to it over the years. My favorite Victoria issue is the Blue and White Issue. Please don’t ever stop publishing that particular issue.

  5. Using Blue Willow for an autumn tablescape is as perfect as God’s fall foliage masterpiece against the backdrop of a crystal blue October sky. Beautiful!

  6. Love the tablescapes you show us. I forward these to friends who participate in our “Festival of Tables” each spring at our church. Blue and white is always a favorite setting!

  7. I LOVE Blue Willow and have a nice collection which is now used as my ‘everyday ware’ and no matter what the event, it always looks wonderful and elegant !

Blue Willow is one of those timeless and classic patterns that just work in any decorating style or colour palette. Jennifer’s designs are gorgeous and take Willow’s beauty to a new level!

Dress it up or dress it down, Blue Willow looks comfortable and beautiful in any setting !
