Years ago, I met Susan Gravely, the founder and owner of the Italian tableware company Vietri. Warm, kind, and funny, she is a delightful Southern lady if ever there was one. We have so much in common, and we became best friends.

This year, Susan and I are both celebrating a very special anniversary: We started our respective companies exactly 40 years ago. What a milestone! Susan has supported and encouraged me tirelessly as the Hoffman Media team and I have grown the business over the decades, and I’ve been privileged to do the same for her. From Vietri’s beginnings to its huge success, I have loved watching the company become a worldwide favorite.

Susan’s love of Italy, where Vietri’s wares are designed and crafted, shines through in everything she does. Her new book, Italy on a Plate, is beyond fabulous. Not only is it full of delicious recipes from her travels, but she also introduces us to local friends that have become special to Vietri’s story and her personal story. Just flipping through the pages feels like a wonderful vacation with a dear friend.

After a Southern Lady event at which Susan spoke and completely charmed our audience, the magazine staff came up with the idea of partnering with her on a trip to Italy. She was all for it, and I am so excited to share that we’ve finally made it happen. This September, Susan will join 20 guests on a dream getaway to Rome, the Amalfi Coast, and Florence. Our group will experience Italy through her eyes, visiting many of the places from Italy on a Plate and enjoying exclusive experiences in each one.
